Wildlife Value Orientations and Demographics in Greece

Value orientations can predict attitudes and possibly behaviors. Wildlife value (WVOs) are useful constructs for predicting differences in among segments of the public towards issues wildlife domain. We carried out face-to-face interviews with a representative sample Greek population (n = 2392) to investigate two basic WVOs, domination mutualism four WVO types that result from their combination: traditionalist (high domination, low mutualism), mutualist mutualism, domination), distanced (low domination) pluralist high how they relate sociodemographics. Based on was predominantly mutualism-oriented. The analysis also revealed mutualists were most abundant (41.0%) followed by (31.1%). Traditionalists (17.9%) pluralists (10.0%) occupied smaller proportions population. Younger individuals more mutualist-oriented, while older (>35 years old) distanced-oriented. Females than males, latter being traditionalist. Those higher education less those lower education. Pet owners non-pet owners. did not vary current residence. produced knowledge would inform about WVOs be therefore implementing successful conservation management plans.
